VALPLAST TIPS: For adjustments, the easiest & most cost-effective is a #13 green stone, you can get inside a buccal clasp with this stone; If you need to adjust a clasp, do so on the shoulder of the buccal clasp to relieve the stress placed on the abutment tooth, if you grind the tissue or polished surface of the clasp, you run the risk of giving it too much flexibility. Four steps to re-polishing a Valplast: coarse pumice, brown tripoli, dry B-20 bristle brush with no compound(to remove residue from tripoli) and mirror-high shine compound (available from Valplast supply). The Valplast company can be reached at 1-800-843-2861. Denture tips: Clicking is the result of an open vertical; Have the patient say ‘emma’ and mark off two point and close vertical 3mm. Reset teeth accordingly. Denture tips in the post dam area where the patient bites. The post dam is inadequate or in the wrong place. Have the patient say ‘ah’ and mark off the vibrating line, and transfer it to the base. Add compound to the post dam area and test with an orange stick. Sore spots are caused by faulty occlusion, sharp peripheries, or overextension. The dentist should have the patient mill in the denture using pressure-indicating paste, then round out and roll all adjusted areas. Pumice for best results.
